Class of 2020

Hello to our graduate's and family members.

We enjoyed celebrating this important milestone with each family and hope that you enjoy the video as well.

Graduation represents one of the formal transitions from childhood to adulthood and you should be proud of your accomplishment. You are now, or soon will be, taking charge of your own destiny. All of us at Clearwater Secondary wish you the best and have shared our advice with you via the video from staff that was shared during graduation week. Almost all the advice boils down to work hard and treat others with kindness and compassion.

Have a safe weekend and come back and visit us in the future. We will be waiting to hear about all your successes.

Darren Coates,

Principal

Clearwater Secondary Class of 2020 Valedictorian Juniiper Wadlegger, Emma Collins, and Luke Lavigne

Juniper Wadlegger, Emma Collins and Luke Lavigne speak about their class, things they didn’t know, and their gratitude to staff, teachers and their parents.

Emma Collins

Overall, my school education was super good. All my teachers were super helpful and always willing to give their time up to students whenever they needed it. Clearwater Secondary has helped me towards my future career goals, and I am super grateful that I got the chance to attend high school there.

One inspirational moment that really stood out to me was when I got the opportunity to tutor a student in grade 8 Math. This student always came to every appointment, tried his best, and he always was super excited to tell me when he got a good mark on his test or assignment. That truly boosted me as a person and a future teacher, because it showed that the little things really can help a student and they are grateful for someone to teach them.

In September 2020, I am attending Thompson Rivers University to take a Bachelor of Arts degree to complete a major in Sociology. After that, I plan on taking my Bachelor of Education degree to become a teacher. Hopefully one day, I will be privileged to teach back in my hometown where I was taught and give back to what I took away from Clearwater Secondary.

Congratulations to everyone who is standing on the stage with me today. It has been an awesome journey to be apart of with all of you. Some of these people graduating with me today have grown up with me since I was born, and I am truly thankful that our group was able to succeed together. Good luck to everyone in their future, wherever life takes you, I’ll always remember our time at Clearwater Secondary. Thank you to everyone making this graduation ceremony happen in such hard times. It truly means a lot to myself and the grads. CLASS OF 2020, we will have an amazing story to tell one day!

Overall my school education experience has been phenomenal. I'm lucky to go to a school where all the teachers are incredibly helpful and friendly. I've always felt safe and supported while at Clearwater Secondary and I have enjoyed all of my classes, even if the homework wasn't very fun.

I think just being a part of a school and community that is so involved and tight knit has really made me value where I grew up and reminded me of the importance of giving back and supporting others. I will always strive to put that forward.

I'm excited to say that I will be attending UVIC (online for the first semester of course) in the Bachelor of Arts program. My plan is to later attain my Bachelor of Education and become an elementary school teacher. During the summer months, while not teaching, I plan to travel.

This year has been a crazy one and although our final year of high school didn't end the way we planned, our achievements don't amount to any less. I'm proud to be a part of the grad class of 2020 with the rest of you. Congrats and good luck, wherever your future takes you!
