Cell Phone Use

Cell phone use in the classroom varies from classroom to classroom because the need for them as educational tools varies both with the content of the course and the age of the students.

As a general rule...

Students in grades 8 and 9 will not need their phones for school use and we would like them to leave them at home, in their locker, or in their backpack/pocket while they are in class.

Students in grades 10-12 may need their phones for class use but we ask them to keep them in their backpack or pocket unless asked by the teacher to use them.

We encourage students to make/take personal calls or texts during break times only. Parents can help students with this by contacting their child at the following times:

• before 8:30 am
• between 11:10 am and 11:20 am (break)
• between 12:45 am and 1:35 am (lunch)
• after 2:55 pm

If you have to reach your child in an emergency the office phone number is below. Please contact us and we will remove your child from the classroom to take your call privately. In an emergency we would be happy to support your child until you can come to them.
